FAQ

Why do I need to purchase Pixel power supplies separately?

A: This design helps reduce waste and keeps costs down. By separating power supplies from the lights, you’re not locked into unnecessary hardware when expanding your setup. It gives you the flexibility to add or upgrade Pixels as your system grows, without replacing perfectly good power supplies.

What else do i need with the Pixels?

A: Power supply (single, dual or quad), mounting arm or rails. You can also visit our bundles page for some killer all in one deals

What tank sizes does the Pixel LED suit, and what coverage can I expect?

A: Pixel LEDs are modular and scalable. Each Pixel will suit tanks a coverage area of 18" squared or up to 20 gallons. Simply add more to increase coverage.

Does it come with a warranty?

A: Lifetime warranty on all LEDs (diodes) and lenses, and 2-year warranty on all other parts

Do I need to use your mounts or rails?

A: Yes absolutely. Pixel LEDs must be mounted to our rails or mounts, as they are designed to function as a heat sink. This keeps the light running cooler, improves long-term stability, and is what allows us to confidently offer our lifetime warranty.

What's the best mounting height?

A: Out of the box, the Pixel rear mounts position the light at approximately 15 inches, which provides an ideal balance between coverage and PAR for most setups.

What's the best settings?

A: Pixel LEDs keep things simple — the spectrum is fixed and does not change. The scheduler adjusts brightness only for smooth sunrise and sunset transitions. If you want custom colour blending, you can combine different Pixel spectrums across your setup. Scheduler sold separately.

The Pixel AQUASCAPER LED is tuned specifically for planted freshwater aquariums, delivering a plant-focused spectrum that maximises photosynthesis, colour vibrancy and healthy growth. Optimised red and blue wavelengths drive strong plant development, while balanced whites ensure natural colour rendition across greens, reds and hardscape details.

Comparison between aquascaping and refugium with 'VS' in the middle on a green and red background.

The Pixel AQUASCAPER WRGB is balanced to enhance greens, reds and natural whites without overpowering the tank. Designed for planted aquariums and high-end aquascapes, it delivers crisp colour separation, true plant tones and even spread for healthy growth and contest-ready presentation. Your scape looks exactly as intended — clean, vivid and natural.

The Pixel REFUGIUM light runs a warm 4,000K golden spectrum optimised for macro algae growth. This wavelength promotes rapid photosynthesis, dense growth and nutrient uptake without unnecessary blue spill. Purpose-built for refugiums where efficiency, stability and results matter more than aesthetics.

Select how many Pixel's you need. Don't worry, you can add more later. Choose the Power Supply for now or for future requirements. For example, fewer Pixels can run on a larger power supply, such as the Quad Power supply which can run 1, 2 3 or 4 Pixels. Decide if you want to slide them onto rails or rear-mount them individually. Rail sliders are supplied free with every Pixel.

Diffusion by refraction (DBR) lens technology. But who cares about fancy names, we let our warranty do the talking. Lifetime warranty on every single Illumagic lens ever sold. This goes across all of our LED lighting range.

Oh yeh, and with a crystal clear lens comes zero loss of PAR. Efficient just got more efficient.

You're getting huge PAR. You're getting a perfectly balanced, zero-waste spectrum. You're getting a lifetime warranty on lenses. Free rail sliders with every Pixel. You're getting a massive 2-year warranty. You're getting an LED lighting system with under 5% energy loss to heat whereas the rest of the competition is shortchanging you with over 20% of wasted energy

Illumagic Pixels Aquascaper

Designed Around Spectral Precision and Scalable Performance

Lighting within planted aquariums influences far more than simple brightness. Spectrum, spread and light distribution determine how plants respond, how colours develop and how the aquascape itself is presented.

The Illumagic Pixels Aquascaper was developed around a modular lighting philosophy that allows coverage and output to scale with the aquarium rather than forcing the aquascape to adapt around a fixed lighting system. The dedicated AQUASCAPER spectrum was designed to enhance greens, reds and natural white balance while maintaining a clean and realistic visual presentation.

The result is a lighting system designed around plant response, colour separation and long-term flexibility.

Spectrum Influences More Than Brightness

Plant performance depends not only on intensity but also on wavelength distribution.

The AQUASCAPER WRGB spectrum is balanced to support strong colour rendering and plant presentation without creating an exaggerated or unnatural appearance. Reds, greens and natural whites remain defined while preserving realistic contrast throughout the aquascape.

For high-end planted systems and display aquariums, spectral balance becomes increasingly important.

Modular Lighting Creates Greater Freedom

Traditional fixtures often lock the aquarium into a fixed footprint and fixed output level.

The Pixel system allows additional units to be added as layouts grow or requirements change. Smaller systems can begin with a single unit while larger aquariums can expand coverage progressively without replacing the entire lighting setup. One power supply can operate multiple Pixels depending on configuration.

This creates greater flexibility as the aquarium evolves.

Efficient Optical Design Preserves Output

Light efficiency depends not only on diode power but also on how output reaches the aquarium.

The DBR lens design was developed to maximise usable light transmission while reducing unnecessary loss. Combined with low heat waste and a compact design, the system focuses energy where it is intended to be used.

REMEMBER  The Pixels need both a power supply (single, dual or quad) and also a mounting system (rear or rail). Please be sure to hit the live chat button if you have any questions.
