Key Features
Increasing the available nitrate allows the bacteria present to naturally bring down phosphate levels while providing a food source for your corals.
The phosphate-based nutrient source, along with naturally occurring bacteria, provides the right environment for nitrification to ensure the uptake of excess dissolved organics.

FAQ
FAQ
Q: What is Coral Essentials Nutrient Food Source used for?
A: It is designed to provide a carbon-based nutrient source that supports beneficial bacteria and helps manage nitrate and phosphate levels in your aquarium.
Q: How does it help reduce nutrients?
A: By feeding beneficial bacteria, it encourages bacterial growth that naturally consumes excess nitrate and phosphate, helping improve water quality.
Q: Is it suitable for reef aquariums?
A: Yes, it is ideal for reef systems where maintaining low, stable nutrient levels is important for coral health and colouration.
Q: Can I use it in fish-only systems?
A: Absolutely. It can also be used in marine fish-only aquariums to help control nutrient buildup from feeding and waste.
Q: How often should I dose it?
A: It is typically dosed daily or according to your aquarium’s nutrient levels. Always begin with the recommended dosage and adjust gradually if needed.
Q: How long before I see results?
A: Many aquarists notice improvements in nitrate and phosphate levels within days to a few weeks, depending on system size and nutrient load.
Q: Can I overdose this product?
A: Yes, excessive dosing may cause bacterial blooms or oxygen depletion. Always follow directions and increase dosing slowly if required.
Q: Should I run a protein skimmer while using it?
A: Yes, a protein skimmer is highly recommended, as it helps export excess bacteria and organics from the water.
Q: Is it safe for corals, fish, and invertebrates?
A: Yes, when used correctly it is safe for reef inhabitants and supports a cleaner, healthier environment.
Q: Can I use it with other Coral Essentials supplements?
A: Yes, it pairs well with trace elements, amino acids, and coral nutrition products as part of a complete reef care system.
Q: What should I monitor while dosing?
A: Regularly test nitrate, phosphate, and observe livestock response to ensure nutrient levels remain stable and balanced.

CORAL POWER NITRATE UP
In ULNS (Ultra Low Nutrient Systems) aquariums corals can become pale and unhealthy if they are starved of available nitrate. Coral Essentials recommends using Coral Power Nitrate Up when your system is too efficient at removing nitrate. Coral will be more vibrant and colourful when nitrate and phosphate are maintained at correct levels. Coral Essentials recommends running your aquarium at a nitrate level between 1 ppm and 5 ppm.
CORAL POWER PHOSPHATE UP
In ULNS (Ultra Low Nutrient Systems) aquariums corals can have poor colouration and are unhealthy if they are starved of available phosphate. Coral Essentials recommends using Coral Power Phosphate Up when you can not achieve the levels of phosphate to maintain a balanced carbon/nitrate/phosphate system. Coral will be more vibrant and colourful when nitrate and phosphate are maintained at correct levels. Coral Essentials recommends running your aquarium at a phosphate level between 0.01 ppm and 0.05 ppm.
